Exploring 101?

Ok so I have a noobish question here I have on console hit double elite in trade and exploration but I wanted to play odyssey for the ground free roam and constant updates and new ships… but what I haven’t really managed to understand is the best way to get your exploration data. Is it best to scan and dash or is it best to detailed scan every system using the FSS? Can it be down to preference or am I just going at it wrong as I’ve been scanning and jumping as quick as possible!

Honestly any and all answers are greatly appreciated as I’m no good at actually playing on PC I suck so any little help to speed things up a tad is great
