In a few hours, I’m finally telling my partner the truth about my gambling addiction and debt.

In a few hours, I’m finally telling my partner the truth.

I’ve been hiding a gambling addiction and a lot of debt for years. It started small, but it slowly spiraled. I chased losses, maxed out my credit cards, took out loans to pay other loans, and kept convincing myself I could fix everything before anyone found out.

I’ve tried quitting so many times. Sometimes I’d stop for weeks or months, then relapse. It’s been the same cycle over and over.

The hardest part has been carrying this secret. Nobody knows. Not my family, not my friends, and especially not my partner.

I’ve wanted to come clean for months, but fear kept stopping me. I finally wrote a letter because I don’t think I can say everything out loud.

I’m not looking for sympathy. I know I’m responsible for all of this.
I just feel incredibly alone right now. If you’ve ever been in a similar situation, I’d appreciate reading your story. I think it would help to know I’m not the only one who’s had to face this.
