My (31F) no ex-gf broke up with me (36M) and now I'm wondering if it's worth having a conversation with her about it?
Met her on bumble in mid/late April. We hit it off right away, but she didn’t want anything serious. We talked for a few days, went on a date and we hooked up. A few days later, she wanted reiterate that she was just looking for something casual, and in the same text conversation, she asked if she could come over to watch a TV show and she’d bring dinner.
So we casually dated for a few weeks, but things got more serious. We'd text every day, good morning/good night texts, and would see each other multiple times a week. We became official about a month ago, where she said we can drop the joke hypotheticals since we’re basically bf/gf. Not gonna get into the details about how compatible we felt and the conversations we had, because you can’t really convey that. Anyways, like I said, we’ve been officially together for about a month.
She came over this past Sunday to end things. Reasons being: she does really like me, but never felt that “relationship” feeling. She thinks we’re far apart on family values - neither of us want kids or marriage, but I’m close to my family and she isn’t (even though she’s visited her parents/her parents have visited her only a couple times less than me in the time we’ve known each other). Money - she’s a lawyer and I work at a gym. We discussed money a few times early on and I thought we were on the same page. She said she likes going to nice dinners and go on vacations (I’ve paid for every dinner and can pay my own way on vacations) and said part of the reason she has the job she has, is to not be financially reliant on someone, so that one kinda threw me.
She was sobbing. We hugged it out and left it on good terms. I didn’t say a ton because this was a shock and a lot to process, but she said to give it a few days and we can talk more/I can say my piece if I want. I’ve written some things, but it almost feels pointless. It’s not like I can convince her to change her mind.
One other key piece of context: June is her busiest month of the year for her firm. Working 10+ hour days during the week and 8 hours most weekend days. So I know she’s exhausted and overwhelmed, and she’s said she doesn’t like making any big decisions in June because she has too much going on. So I think maybe it’s just a lot going on already, and then add in a new relationship. But like I said, I don't think I can convince her to change her mind and I dunno if I want to try.
I know we’ve only known each other for just over two months, but talking every day, already going on a little weekend trip, seeing each other multiple days a week for that long…I feel like that has to count for something. I dunno. Is there a point to talking to her about how I'm feeling?
