AIO by reporting a guy who might be a pedophile on Instagram?
The title is pretty much what it sounds like. I basically just got instagram, and started talking to one of the people who followed me. I know, I know, stupid to contact someone you don’t know over social media, but I was trying to be more social (clearly a mistake). And at first glance, his profile didn’t set off any red flags.
After talking for a bit about soccer, he asked me for a picture of me from when I was younger and on a team— for context, I had previously told him my age (18F), and that the last time I played on a team was in middle school. When I tried to play it off, he doubled down, saying I “could get them for him 😜“. So yeah, instantly blocked. Taking a closer look at his profile revealed that most of the pictures he posted of himself going back three-ish years looked like they had a filter on them to make him look younger. The pictures after that showed a man who looked thirty years old at least.
I feel pretty justified in blocking him, since he made me feel REAL uncomfortable, but I’m wondering if reporting him would be justified or going too far. I can’t think of any other reason for why he would want a picture of me as a child as well as post pictures of himself edited to look like a teenager that ISN’T creepy, but maybe I’m assuming the worst. Like I said, I’m at all familiar with social media, so any advice would be appreciated.
