(10k) Cake and Punch Wedding + Covering Bar Tab

We're planning a religious ceremony with light refreshments and desserts to immediately follow at the church. Would it make sense to our guests if we invited them to join us at a local bar (that serves food) where we would purchase cover the food and drink tab?

I will have some family traveling and would like to feed them. We also have some friends who might not want to attend a church ceremony or who work Saturdays and could join us for drinks.

This would be communicated on invites, and everyone would be welcome. I anticipate there will be attrition between locations. We recently attended and loved a wedding that followed this formula.

Am I insane? Is this just a reception?
