Agent sent a wild lease AFTER I paid the deposit. Need advice.
Hey guys, second-year math student here. Need a quick sanity check on a lease agreement with Sage.
The landlord made me pay the key + LMR deposit first. But AFTER I sent the money, they sent over the lease with some crazy clauses:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't both of these clauses completely illegal and void under the Ontario RTA?
To make things worse, I told the agent that I was looking for a 12-month lease, but the contract they provided says 3 YEARS (36 months). 💀
Since I noticed these suspicious terms, I'm definitely not signing this sketchy contract. Has anyone dealt with this before? If they refuse to refund, what's my best move?
