ABSN applicant (spring 2027)

hi all, i'll be applying to asu's absn program this fall for the spring 2027 cohort. i’m 18, and I graduated high school a year early with college dual enrollment. by the time i apply i'll have all of my prerequisites done im estimating about a 3.5 cumulative gpa , and around a 3.7 for my critical gpa. i’ve worked as a cna/pct for a little over a year, mostly in a hospital setting so experience isn't an issue. i’m taking my TEAS this week and I know that’ll probably be one of the biggest pieces that’s left for my application.

im excited but so nervous. my biggest worry isn’t only getting in, it’s whether i’ll be able to keep up with the speed of an accelerated program. lots of the students i’ve seen seem to be in their 20s or 30s, and some already have bachelor’s degrees and way more life experience. I’m concerned that being 18 and not having years of college under my belt would make the transition tougher.

for anyone in the program, have completed the program or also applying:

  • how competitive did you feel admissions was?
  • what were your gpa/TEAS numbers ?
  • do You think age is a big factor ?
  • what’s one thing you wish you had done before you started?
  • Were you able to work at all during the program?
  • what should topics should i study on the most before starting?
  • which term/topic was most difficult for you and why?

i’d really appreciate any advice even if it’s candid, and your honest experiences.

Thank you!
