4yo always begging to go home

My 4yo son was just diagnosed with autism level 2. The last few months he's been more resistant to going other places and will repeatedly beg to go home after a short while. Fun places, boring places, new places, familiar places, anywhere. Is this normal? Could it be he's overstimulated? What helps your child if you've experienced this?
