Tuning the color of youtube fan noise to actually cover what bugs me
I always reached for youtube fan noise, but it never quite covered the higher pitched sounds in my room.
A basic youtube fan noise clip is whatever pitch it was recorded at, so I could not nudge it to match the noise I was masking, which is why I left youtube fan noise for something with adjustable colors. When the bother was a high whine from electronics, a brighter noise color covered it far better than a low fan hum. For deep rumbles I slide back toward brown. Being able to tune the tone of the masking sound, not just pick a fixed clip, changed everything.
Match the color of your masking sound to what you are covering.
I use an app called Mindael because I can slide across noise colors from brown to violet and layer a fan style sound over the top, each with its own volume. Mindael loops it all seamlessly so nothing pokes through a gap.

If a fixed fan clip is not cutting it, try adjusting the color instead. Mindael gave me that control. What do you tune yours to cover?
