I think the MIY has fumbled the bag

Emptying out the talismans into the faraway tree instead of just dropping in the one bag seems a huge mistake.

I assume the logic would be that the talismans are scattered and even if they find a few, they won't find them all. Which is fine.

But surely if you found 1 or 2 in random locations, you would just put one in colony house and another in town?

Dropping in the bag whole might have been the smarter play - it could have been encased in a tree or concrete (RIP Dale) and then the survivors would have had no protection from the monsters.
