Au Pair Denied Re-entry Visa to US
I am a host parent based in California our au pair is from South Africa, and we use Cultural Care as our agency
Our au pair was with us for 12 months and recently returned home at the 11 month mark to get dental surgery and be with her siblings for important family milestones.
Before she traveled back home we finalized a 9 month extension.
She scheduled a visa appointment 2 months in advance to renew her visa while back home
While at home, she called us to inform us that her visa was rejected and she wouldn’t be able to board her return flight. 214b was the reason
Our agency did have like subtle warnings about not returning home towards the end of the visa, but I as a host parent didn’t feel like it was my business to get involved in her decision to travel home.
Our agencies now telling us that if she can’t return within 60 days that she will not be able to return at all and the soonest recent appointment that we’re seeing is three months out
We’re basically in a situation where we’re hoping for an earlier visa appointment otherwise our whole plan is just up in the air and ab solution. The sad part is we didn’t say a proper goodbye because we were planning for her to come back within two weeks and the thought of even looking for alternative childcare is making me sick.
