Tips for optimizing traversable area while building dense tropical forests?

Help - PC

Hey everyone!

I really love the aesthetic of dense, lush tropical rainforests, and I’m trying to build a highly detailed, overgrown habitat for my animals. However, I’ve hit a massive roadblock: every time I try to pack the enclosure with trees, bushes, and plants, the animal's traversable area completely drops to zero, and they can barely move around.

I know that plants have hitboxes that block animal movement, but I just love dense rainforests...

How do you guys optimize this?

  • Are there specific tropical plants/trees that have smaller or non-existent hitboxes?
  • Do you use any tricks like sinking the plants into the ground or raising them?
  • How do you balance that "dense jungle look" without making the habitat completely unnavigable for the animals?

Would love to hear your tips, workarounds, or any layout strategies you use to trick the system while keeping the enclosure functional. Thanks in advance!
