Idk what to do
Basically me and my family went to the mall we had dinner and as dessert we got ice cream. Everyone got single scoops but I felt like having a banana split - the place I went to offered a large banana split and a smaller one I asked for a smaller one however the employee made a mistake and gave me the bigger one.
The ice cream place was already packed and having issues so I just let it slide. This is where the problem started my mom absolutely blew up at me.
For reference im 17 and a bit over weight I’ve been trying to lose weight my whole life but nothing I do ever sticks or makes a significant difference and tbh I’m losing motivation to even try losing weight anymore because my whole life it’s always the first thing anyone’s looked at. My family members anytime they see me tell me I’d look so much better slimmer - just a few months ago my uncle in front of his and my whole family goes you should use Ozempic I’ll give you an award for losing weight - my dad tells me I’ll never find a partner because of how overweight I am, I’ve been called a fat ass at school before - and my weight problem has recently gotten even worse because of school induced stress and anxiety- but even so while these things do bother me sometimes I’ve learned to live with it and handle it to the best of my capabilities
Anyway after, my mom starts yelling at me saying I’ll get diabetes and whatnot and this isn’t the first time she’s done this so I just brush it off but she doesn’t stop there, she goes on to say I hope you die because of all the sweets you eat - she said this in her language so this isn’t the exact wording but it honestly hurt a lot. How could my own mother wish that for me because I ate a little ice cream?
We get home and I’m still visibly upset so upset I decide to tell my dad about what my mom said to me (big mistake) in hopes it might make me feel better as I don’t really have anyone else to talk to about this. My mom over hears and just gets more angry she starts defending her self saying that’s not what she meant and that what she said was an “expression” in her language my dad goes on to say that’s just how she shows her worry and during all this I’m crying I’m so hurt that I just break down - this makes no difference both my parents just glaze over what my mom said and that was the end of it
I just want to know if im overreacting I know I should be trying harder to lose weight I’m even making an effort right now but how can I find the motivation to even lose the weight when I’m surrounded by this negative input. Sometimes I wish my whole existence didn’t resolve around “bettering my self” and losing weight
