27 M, A&P Certification, Considering USCG
Hello! I'm currently in the process of obtaining my A&P certification and considering going CG afterward. I know I could have a ton of civilian opportunities with this certification, but I'm also interested in some of the benefits of going military. I'm medically disqualified from the USAF (literally just eczema), and CG is next on my list. FWIW I passed a class 3 medical for private pilot, though I've done no pilot training.
I'll be married by the end of the year, and my fiance currently works in the medical field making $80k. She's very supportive of me going military, but I'm trying to make as educated of a decision as possible. She can do her job just about anywhere, but that pay rate may not follow. That's a risk we'd have to discuss.
Aside from obviously having the skills, would having my A&P speed up the process of becoming an AMT?
Do any of you have experience going in married with a spouse already set in their career?
Thanks!
