How to develop communication skills?

I know everyone talks about developing skills before joining college. But, one thing nobody really talks about is communicating.

I have always been an introvert and I was always the shy kid in school. But according to some of my seniors, Networking is extremely important and for that you need good communication skills..which I definitely lack.

Like do you just approach people and start talking?? Or is there a better way to do it
