Is it too late for a solo trip in September? (context below)

Other Question

Hi all! Kind of unique situation.

For context I’m a 30 year old woman from the U.S. who had previously been planning a honeymoon in France this September. Unfortunately my partner and I called off the wedding. So far we had only booked accommodations for Paris for 5 nights (we had planned to hit the south of France for an additional 5 nights but hadn’t yet booked that at the time we split up).

While we broke up several months ago, I’ve sat on our Paris hotel reservations knowing I paid for them myself, there’s free cancellation until August, and I still want to go… but I haven’t done any further planning. It’s been a rough time. If I still go, I will just be doing the 5 nights in Paris by myself.

I am finding flights that fit my budget, but otherwise I’m feeling rather lost on how much planning I should be doing and what I’m too late for. If this were still a honeymoon trip, I would’ve already had flights, activities, dinner reservations, shows etc booked. The last thing I want is to go spontaneously without any plan and end up overwhelmed with decision paralysis.

I guess my main questions are…

  1. Can I still in theory plan a worthwhile Paris trip for the first week of September this late in the game? What are some reservations I need to get on immediately?

  2. I am traveling solo for the first time and it will also be my first time in Europe. I’d love any recommendations for things to do and not to do, specific to France, for a solo female traveler.

  3. If you’ve been to Paris in early September, I’d love to know your experience with the weather and crowds!

I’m really proud of myself for leaving the relationship and the next thing on my list is to actually do something for myself, which would be this Paris trip! I appreciate any encouragement and recommendations.
