"There is an error in the SMART detection", and "Reboot and select proper boot device".
Please help me diagnose my issue.
I've had this issue for the last couple of weeks now. The first screen has the SMART detection error, and when I press F1 to continue I get the select proper boot device message. So far I've been able to get onto my PC by loading defaults in the BIOS and restarting, and sometimes the PC has to be powered on for some time in the BIOS menu for this method to work.
In the BIOS when the problem is active Windows Boot Manager is not there, and instead it just says "hard disk". Once I've got everything loaded I can restart the computer, go into BIOS and then I can see Windows Boot Manager, so the issue is only happening after it's been powered off for a while.
I know a faulty SSD is likely but CrystalDiskInfo, Intel Rapid Storage Technology, and CMD are all saying my disk is fine, so before installing a new SSD I'd like to ask here for ideas.
A couple things worth mentioning: my CMOS battery is weak and has been for some time - if my PC is left off at the wall for some time I get CMOS Checksum errors, though since this current issue has started my date and time has been correct. The other thing is that my PC is an Acer, and since the beginning of June there has been a common brand issue where we see the message "Secure boot is on, but your device does not support the automated secure boot certificate update due to hardware or firmware limitations." This could be totally unrelated, but I think it's worth mentioning.
