Power dynamic in algerian couple
Hello everyone,
I want to bring up a somewhat tricky topic that l've been noticing a lot lately in relationships.
I'm 30 years old, and most of my friends fall into the 25-40 age bracket and are married. Between talking to them and observing older couples in Algerian society, l've come to a striking conclusion: it's almost always the women who call the shots.
The traditional idea of the man being the absolute leader of the household often feels like a mere facade. Even when men aren't consciously aware of it, their decision making is quietly ruled by one ultimate goal: don't upset the wife.
They will routinely pass up options that suit them better just to keep the peace.
The most interesting part is how men react when I try to talk about it:
- The Younger Group (Under 35): They hit an immediate ego barrier. They flat-out refuse to acknowledge it or admit that it applies to them.
- The Older Group (Over 40): They don't fight it. Instead, they just give you this defeated look like they've accepted it as an inevitable law of nature that they can't do anything about.
