who in the damn cares about where the engines are mounted?

i’d like to preface by saying most people don’t seem to care, because i certainly don’t, but the argument sometimes gets brought up that somehow it’s a better plane if the engines are mounted under the wings?

i fly a crj. i get twin turbine time, same exact time as someone flying the 175. but sometimes ill hear a little snicker about how “it’s not underwing time” as if somehow my engines vector of thrust has any bearing on “more valuable” time.

even the passengers seem to be more comfortable with planes that have engines mounted to the wings

so what am i missing?
