When El Galeón Andalucía landed in Sligo, it was meant to be a day of celebration. The Galleon had sailed from Spain to the Sligo port to honour the 1588 wreckage of the Spanish Armada off the coast of Streedagh beach.

While crowds buzzed and were in awe of the Galleon's arrival, that awe soon turned to horror as the local Spanish Armada Society began constructing a gallows at the port. "I thought it was a stage at first", said local woman Mary Devins, "but once they started putting the Spanish lad's necks in the nooses, that's I when I started to think. Somethings up".

Shouts and jeers rang out from the crowd as the crew of the ship was led a sword point to the Gallows. When asked by Mayor Gino Boyle, what right had they to do this, the group leader John Brady, apparently responded with a statute from the 1500s. "Honestly, I didn't think it would apply", Mayor Boyle told reporters "but I'm not a solicitor so I didn't stop them. I now realise that was wrong!".

Sadly, the 10 crew member were hanged until life left their bodies. Emergency responders on the scene were sadly unable to save them. "Credit to the Armada Society, they done a great job constructing those gallows. Necks were snapped immediately!" said Seamus Walsh, EMT. He later added "It's obviously a tragedy too".

But the Spanish Armada Society, were not around to receive applause for their fine craftsmanship as they had in the following uproar stolen the ship with the the intent to wreck in off Streegagh beach. When we tried to contact them, The Other Guard received a message from the society stating, "Historical accuracy is important to us, which is why we strive to recreate this tragic event as accurately as possible!". The group then. prominently displayed a flag on the rear of the ship which read "This is our one thing, let us wreck it!".

"All the deaths really put a damper on the day" said local woman
