I’ve always liked the film versions of the Suicide Squad, but honestly… the comic artwork style is the one I admire the most. There’s just something about it that feels more true to the characters.

When you look at the lineup—Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Deadshot (Will Smith), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), The Joker, Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman)… you can see how each one has evolved on screen.

But the comic artwork versions hit differently.

They’re not tied to one actor or one moment—they represent the core identity of the character. The colours are sharper, the poses are more exaggerated, and everything feels a bit more iconic. It’s like you’re looking at the character exactly how they were imagined before any adaptation.

Take Harley Quinn or The Joker in comic form—they feel bigger, more expressive, almost timeless compared to any single film version. Same with Deadshot—the comic artwork version feels like the purest version of the character, stripped back to what makes him instantly recognisable.

There’s also something about how the artwork captures energy. It doesn’t try to be realistic—it leans into style, and that’s what makes it stand out in a display. You don’t just see the character… you feel them.

That’s why, if I’m choosing, I’ll always lean toward the comic artwork styles. They’re not just representations—they’re the blueprint everything else comes from.
