Advice for a Utility Pickup?
I'm looking at switching my 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring for a pickup truck as my daily driver at some point in the future so that I can haul around equipment/tools, supplies, and motorcycles/parts. As I've been getting more into custom fabrication and welding. I've been looking around at makes and models and I'm a bit overwhelmed as I'm not an expert car/truck guy. But I would like to learn, so a truck that is easily self serviceable is something I'm looking for.
Currently I'm intrigued by the late 00's Ford Rangers, but I don't want to jump the gun on anything yet. I much prefer the older mid size pickups. I've driven larger and newer trucks in the past and I'm not a fan of the chunkiness of them or the tech heaviness.
Here's a brief list of some things I'm looking for:
- Mid size truck
- Suitable for tall driver (I'm 6'3")
- Extended cab (Not full 4 doors. But just a little bit of extra space behind the seats for storage)
- Automatic (Never learned stick XD)
- 4WD (For some hauling but mainly for the winter here in Canada)
- Easy to work on (Maintenance, repairs and/or upgrades)
I know the MPG is not going to be super great, but the higher it is the better. Any help is appreciated!
