To the ladies with Hyrosalpinx

Advice Needed!

A few years ago, I found out that both of my fallopian tubes were damaged from hydrosalpinx. From that moment on, I knew that if I wanted to have a child someday, tube removal would likely be part of my journey.

Even knowing they were hurting my chances of getting pregnant, I was still incredibly sad at the thought of losing them. It felt like I was letting go of a part of myself. What made it even harder was knowing that once they were gone, IVF would be my only path to pregnancy.

Yesterday, I finally had both tubes removed.

To my surprise, I feel more relieved than sad. The anticipation and fear leading up to surgery were much harder than the surgery itself. I know I won’t be able to conceive naturally now, but realistically, hydrosalpinx wasn’t giving me much of a chance either. Instead, I feel grateful that I’ve removed something that was standing in the way of my best chance at having a baby.

Recovery has been much smoother than I expected. I was up walking around the house the same day and have been feeling pretty good overall.

If you’re facing tube removal or struggling with the idea of it, I just wanted to share that it’s okay to grieve it. Those feelings are valid. But on the other side, you may find a sense of relief too.
