Shower bath mat

Hey guys, this is kind of weird to admit, but how do you clean a shower bath mat if it has mold on it? I never used them growing up but my last apartment I shared with someone and the shower floor was ALWAYS hella slippery since she wouldn’t clean it off before ending her shower. I got one of those rubber bath mats that has a bunch of suction cups on the bottom and I realized after just moving that it’s got some mold on the bottom. I was going to use a spare toothbrush to brush it off the other day but I realized the mold is IN the material. Is this bath mat a loss or is there a way to save it?
