Can ECTS be calculated without official credit points or student workload hours?
Hi everyone,
I recently completed my BCA (2023–2026) from Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU), India, and I'm planning to apply for a Master's in Germany.
The universities I'm interested in require information about ECTS. However, my university only awards marks in percentage and does not provide credit points or student workload hours on the marksheets. My university follows an older percentage-based system rather than a credit-based system, so I'm unsure how German universities evaluate my degree.
I have a few questions:
-
Is it possible to calculate ECTS without official credit points or workload hours?
-
Has anyone from an Indian university (especially one without a credit-based system) faced this issue?
-
Would an official transcript or provisional degree certificate help, or do I specifically need a document showing the workload/contact hours for each subject?
I'm planning to visit my university to apply for my official transcript and provisional degree certificate. I'll also ask if they can provide a document showing the student workload or contact hours for my BCA program.
Has anyone gone through a similar situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
