DurableStack v1.0.1 (.NET) Released!
I just pushed the first full release of DurableStack: v1.0.1. This is the first version that I really consider “done enough” to stop calling it a release candidate or beta.
Up until now I’ve been running it in a couple of real projects, and using that to shake out the rough edges. At this point the core runtime, the data store providers, and the execution model all feel stable enough that I wanted to just go ahead and formalize it as a real version 1 release.
As a quick recap, DurableStack is a way to add background jobs and one-off deferred execution into your .NET applications. The goal is basically to keep it simple, predictable, and built for distributed environments from the beginning.
The core idea is that you bring your own database (SQL Server, Postgres, SQLite, or MySQL), and that’s it. No Redis, no RabbitMQ, no extra infrastructure layer that you have to reason about or maintain separately. You configure it once and it just runs in local dev and in production the same way.
It supports:
- reliable background job execution
- retries and failure handling
- recurring cron-style jobs
- safe distributed coordination between workers
This release was mostly about stabilization rather than new features. The main work was tightening up reliability around leases and retries, and cleaning up a few edge cases that showed up once I started actually running it in real systems.
The observability site (https://app.durablestack.com) is still one of my favorite parts of the system. It gives you a simple way to see what’s going on with workers, jobs, and failures across a distributed setup.
It’s completely optional, but it’s useful if you want visibility into what the system is doing without having to build that yourself, and it can send out alerts if something unexpected happens.

I hope that people will find this to be as useful as it is for me.
