AITAH for expecting my husband to help more?? 32 wks pregnant law student grieving
Hi,
I’m (26F) pregnant with my third kid and I’m a full time college student and I go to the gym everyday. I have extreme anxiety so things like grocery store is usually a husband (28M) task.
He’s been unemployed since December after an injury and some issues with his previous company. My scholarships have always been about half our income.
We mostly split the childcare and housework but I’ll admit he’s been doing more than me lately because I’m 32 weeks pregnant and am just so tired.
He’s starting college classes in a week but he hasn’t done anything besides homemaking since December. I begged him to go for walks or get a gym membership or SOMETHING.
I don’t have a big social life but I go to the gym daily and usually the library or campus a few times a week.
He just plays video games all day. Our kids are both in preschool and they’ve only been home for two weeks for summer break but since December he’s been home. He’s does the dishes and often the laundry etc.
Anyways,
He recently has been very rude to me. And today he told me I’m not treating him right. We recently put one of our cats down and he picked a fight with me at the vet while I held our kids because he said he was “testing me to see if I could make an actual decision for once” when he put me on the spot about decisions on putting my cat down. I couldn’t make the decision on my own and then he yelled at me in front of our children for not crying.
For context, I was a hospice nurse for six years and I’ve had family and pets die. He has not experienced death first hand and got angry for my grieving process.
I learned this week that my estranged mother is dying from end stage cancer and I’ve been really depressed and he keeps yelling at me for not treating him right because I complained that he turned on his PlayStation the moment he woke up while I made breakfast. Or that he’s been spending too much money on video games without consulting me over finances. Or that the house was a mess and we had been out of produce for weeks. Sure I could clean and go to the store. But I also feel like I have way more going on than him?
He’s been doing calisthenics and gaining muscle at home and I love that he’s getting into fitness and nutrition (I’m a personal trainer so it’s important to me). But he’s constantly asking me to look at him or feel his muscles or watch him do pull-ups and it’s getting annoying while I’m over here gaining pregnancy weight and trying to still hit the gym with low energy levels.
We haven’t been intimate much at all during this pregnancy due to some pain and me just not wanting to and I honestly think he’s taking it out on me.
AITAH for expecting him to do more and expect less??
