$2,000 Stipend

Im a first year recipient and I was looking to purchase a laptop currently on sale using the $2,000 stipend from Hagan. I wondering if I should wait for the check to come in (around mid-july after the 1st yr workshop) to purchase the laptop or could I buy the laptop now and keep the recipient. I’m not too sure on how the check would work.
