I was rewatching season 3 episode 4 (34:00) and something caught my attention. In this scene, Victor builds a fort with Sarah while she looks at all the things he gathered from the bodies after the massacre happened. He mentions a person, Mr. Getbert, who always smelled like onions because he was always picking onions that grew in the forest.
According to the From lore, everything here repeats itself in cycles. That means young Victor should have met a man who was left alone for 40 years before him. Why would a normal resident of the town survive by eating onions from the forest while food was probably available for residents the same way it is now? The town managed to keep the little boy alive for 40 years, one boy with peaches, another with onions.
When Victor tries to warn Ethan that he would be left alone, he tells Tabitha: “It’s always a boy and a girl.” No one would say “always” for something that happens just once. He definitely knew the boy who was left alone before him. He said “always” because for Victor, it’s gonna happen a third time:
• The guy he met when he was a child, who lived there for 40 years.
• Victor himself with Eloise.
• Ethan with Julie.
Maybe this is the reason why he didn’t run after Eloise. He knew this would happen and just accepted his fate.
I can also connect it to countless theories about Ethan or Victor being the Man in Yellow. What if the Man in Yellow disguises himself as the boy who was left alone for 40 years every time after the cycle ends? Victor’s enormous trauma could consist of two things: the Man in Yellow eating his mother, and him being his friend before the massacre. After everybody in town is killed, the Man in Yellow disguises himself as the grown child who was left alone for decades. That means in this cycle, Victor should be killed and the Man in Yellow will take his appearance to terrify Ethan even more. Imagine the person you were friends with suddenly eating your mother. So according to this logic, both Victor and Ethan should become vessels for the Man in Yellow after their deaths
