Saw a new Doctor today
My massage therapist recommended her to me and she has a lot of good reviews, and surprisingly she actually takes my insurance. Which is VERY rare, so I figured okay lets try it. My GERD symptoms (and ALL my stomach issues) started 3 months ago immediately after taking Amoxicillin for a few days. So I really was hoping I could get a more in depth examination besides my MD giving me Omeprazole for six weeks. She went over the history of my symptoms and how they all started, and how I was affected by antibiotics 5 years ago (A WHOLE other story of how antibiotics messed me up. DON'T take Cipro or Flagyl). I tried my best to explain the current timeline to her in detail. She said she wouldn't be surprised if the antibiotics did actually change something in my gut and that could be causing all this. She didn't say to stop following my doctors orders on taking the ppi. She ordered a lot of blood work. She said she doesn't want to recommend any supplements or any other tests until the blood work comes back so she can see whats going on. She took notes of all the blood work results my MD did in April also and put them in her notes. She said if the blood work comes back fine that she ordered, she will focus on healing my gut. She said for a GI map test I would have to pay 400 dollars out of pocket for. I will list what she ordered in her blood work.
Insulin, HS CRP, OMEGACHECK(R), TPO AND TG ABS, FREE T3, Iodine serum plasma, Iron TIBC FER PNL, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B1, Magnesium RBC, ZINC RBC, Selenium RBC, Questassured Vitamin D, Vitamin A (Retinol), Cortisol A.M., DHEA sulfate, Candida 30440, Food Ig6 Panel 37334
I'm not disappointed with how today turned out, I figured I'd at least get advice on things I could take for the time being. I did ask her exactly that too. She said she didn't want to sell me stuffy willy nilly without investigating first and having a plan. She said there are things I could take like L glutamine, marshmallow root, digestive enzymes, etc for my gut, but she seemed pretty adamant about getting the blood work back first before giving me a treatment plan. I don't think that's a bad thing. Any thoughts??
