nervous about calling out 4th of july
So I am a per diem worker at a med-surg floor. I had a shift scheduled last Saturday in which I called out. I starting feeling cold/flu symptoms and was feeling a pounding headache. Then throughout the week I had these symptoms but didn't think any of it and thought it would go away. So I didn't go to an urgent care.
Following yesterday, some of my peers noticed one part of my eye was very red. And it seems like it was pink eye. This morning I woke up with crust surrounding it so I had went to the urgent care and the doctor suspected it would be and provided me official lettering to not attend work tomorrow.
I am just feeling SO guilty because with such a big holiday like 4th of July I would be calling out. It probably looks sus too maybe? Even though I have a doctor's note. I wish I had came into urgent care sooner last week but then I didn't think anything of it and didn't think I had pink eye until yesterday. As per diem we need to work one summer holiday, so I'm telling my manager I'll work the Labor Day. Should I also ask if there is a staffing need for days upcoming to make-up for my lost time. Or, just say that I'll work the Labor Day shift? I don't care about the lost money through the shift. But, I don't want to come off as someone who is avoiding to work.
Anyways this is getting long. If you've read all of it thanks. I hope I can get some advice on feeling guilt of calling out twice, the last time I called out was 5/2 besides my scheduled shift last Saturday.
