Mercan Kneeling Scene

Anyone knows what happened after this scene? I skipped several first episodes because Atesh was unbearably toxic. my question is: did Atesh ever find out that Mercan didn’t do it? I heard it was her mother’s doing. Did he ever realize he did her wrong? (besides final episode).
