The Outsider - TV show on “NOW TV”

I started watching this show and the first episode was really intriguing and dark and that kept me locked in. The second episode was a little confusing and I wasn’t sure what was going on.. can someone give me a little breakdown of what the second episode is actually about and how it connects to the first episode?
