Bottom surgury delema

So in Canada we have bottom surgury funded. I’ve been approved and made my apointment. My mother who was gonna help me asked if I could push it back as my father has prostate cancer and is going though treatment. Asked me to help rather be in bed for 3 monthes. What should I do. ? I desperately want this surgury but I am scared but don’t know what to do.
