HFM Survivors

Okay every story I’ve read about this virus has been mortifying. I was in Costa Rica for a work trip when my BB mama messaged me that our daughter has HFM (Sunday). Fast forward to Wednesday and it’s my turn for our over night. My daughter is still covered in blisters but fever is gone and her energy is back. This makes it almost harder to manage because she’s absolutely feral. The next day, my ex tells me she is getting it. We decide to leave my daughter with her for the weekend since they’re both sick and hers is mild. I washed my hands incessantly and avoided her all over me but it’s tough. She missed me from the trip, fell asleep on me and of course wanted hugs and support. I was meticulous about washing hands and not sharing forks/knives but I’m absolutely waiting to get obliterated by this.

My questions for you guys: every story ive seen here is my body turned on me, my balls were ruined and I lost my finger nails. Did any of you NOT get it? How long did it take before you got sick? I think sometimes Reddit is full of all the people that got tortured but this is one I’d really, really love to avoid. For the dads that DID get it, where did you mess up? If you avoided it, please speak on how you did so. With all other illnesses she could cough in my face and I would embrace the struggle but this one super concerns me as I wouldn’t be able to work.
