Advice for a prospective transfer?
I am currently a Computer Engineering student at the University of South Carolina. On the first day of my first semester, I decided I wanted to transfer, did my research, and became obsessed with Purdue. I reworked my schedule to only take courses that would transfer to Purdue, and took some FYE classes virtually through Ivy Tech. The prospect of transferring drove me to maintain a strong GPA and do well in my classes. When the second semester started, I did a complete 360 and told myself transferring was a dumb idea, 'my current university is fine'. I still didn't enjoy my experience, and the motivation to do well in my classes had disappeared. Here I am again, wanting to transfer and I have no idea where I will be at the end of August. I've done loads of research on gateway opportunities and institutions with transferrable credits. Yesterday, I was strongly considering Vincennes for their transfer program, but their course offerings would not allow me to complete the required associates in a timely manner. Ivy Tech is always on the table because I already started an incomplete course sequence there, and they offer everything I need to finish the engineering transfer requirements. Today I also began doing some research on Purdue's regional campuses because they have priority in transfer applications, and they allow you to keep your GPA when you transfer. I will probably apply to the Purdue North West campus because their application deadline is August 1st. All I know is that I am unhappy with my current university, and Purdue gave me a sense of purpose that I now lack. Can anyone who's transferred from Ivy Tech or a regional campus offer some advice? Should I suck it up and get my degree from my current university?
