I just got it for 30$, I'm going to start my adventure. Please advice me !

So, I've heard a lot of bad things about this game: bad story, repetitive FedEx quests, and other things. I'm going to form my own opinion about it. Before I start, I wanted to ask you guys if there are things you would have liked to know at the beginning? It might save me some frustration! ^^
