Please don't Choose IIT just for the sake of the IIT tag and exposure, if you have zero interest in the branch.

I just watched this video, and it made me rethink the 'choose IIT for exposure' crap.

This guy always wanted to get into software, but ended up taking Biochem at an IIT because everyone around him said the IIT tag would provide better exposure. He couldn’t connect with the coursework, his CPI suffered, and even after putting in the effort to learn MERN and DSA, he’s struggling to get IT internships because many companies filter applicants based on CPI and branch. He was literally holding tears here talking abt his situation

It made me wonder how often this actually happens. Personally, I feel it’s better to choose your preferred branch at a decent college than take a branch at an IIT that you have no real interest in.

What do y’all think?
