When I (22F) decline sex from my (25m) boyfriend, he leaves
My (22f) boyfriend (25m) will leave my apartment after I decline having sex. We have been together for about a year now, and this has happened throughout our entire relationship.
We didn’t have sex until about 4 months after becoming official. He would initiate before then, but I would always stop him, and say I wasn’t ready. He always respected this, never pressured me into having sex, but he would make up some kind of excuse and leave or push me to leave 5 minutes later. He would just say things like, “it’s getting late, I should be getting home” or “I have an early morning, you should probably leave.”
When we started having sex, he would sleep over or would allow me to sleep over. But if I declined for whatever reason he would leave or push me to leave.
I’ve always felt very alone and dejected after this would happen. It makes me feel used in a sense. Like, if I would’ve said yes, you would’ve stayed. I’ve tried bringing this up to him, and he said I’m just overreacting and he’s leaving for “valid reasons.”
Last night, we were laying in my bed watching TikTok and I started to fall asleep (I am on two different meds that make me very drowsy, so I fall asleep pretty easily). He started to initiate, and I moved his hand away and told him I was too tired. He stopped, and I fell asleep shortly after. I woke up to a text from him at 12:30AM saying he left because he decided he wants to golf early in the morning. He sent that message MAYBE 10 minutes after I fell asleep. He’s asking to hang out again today, but I don’t want to. I feel like he leaves when he doesn’t get his way. In a weird way, I feel used.
Am I overreacting? Is this a normal thing in relationships?
TLDR: My (22f) boyfriend (25m) leaves or pushes me after I decline sex, because he “has an early morning” or says “its getting late” and he should “head home.” I feel dejected and alone when this happens, but he says I’m overreacting. Is this normal?
