Need avice

I broke up with my porn addicted boyfriend 3 years. He was not transparent or honest with me, and the relationship wasn't that healthy. I got tired of being lied to and I knew I didn't have to patience to continue supporting him in his recovery.

We're going to see eachother in person to drop off eachothers things, and I want to write him a letter. Mostly just to apologize/acknowledge that I wasn't understanding enough. Like I'm sorry I wasn't the safe space he needed to open up.

I'm conflicted because I understand I didn't force him to lie to me, that was his choice. But my reactions to the urges (porn is a huge trigger for me) were not helpful. By majority he didn't come to me with that info tho, I had to ask/pry.

So is it even worth it or or valid? Or am I just apologizing for nothing?
