how do I get better at praying in public

I know God looks at the heart its not about impressing others, however I hate how nervous I get when asked to pray on the spot.

I freeze, and end up saying generic things that don't feel very powerful.

I also stutter a bit during these, and my mind blanks - is there any way to become more confident and better at praying?
