Dutch men are among the tallest in the world (roughly \~183–185 cm average). That difference is real. The below are possible reasons:
**1. Genetics**
Dutch populations tend to have a higher frequency of height-associated genetic variants.
But genetics alone doesn’t explain the rapid increase over the last \~100–150 years.
**2. Childhood nutrition (very important)**
The Dutch diet has long been rich in:
dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt)
protein
Better childhood nutrition allows people to reach their genetic height potential.
**3. Public health and low childhood disease burden**
Clean water, strong healthcare, and low rates of childhood malnutrition mean fewer growth interruptions.
**4. Social and environmental factors**
Some research suggests **assortative mating** (taller people tending to pair with taller people over time) can reinforce height differences
Urban, wealthy societies tend to reduce growth-stunting conditions overall- but i am unsure how true this is.
**5. Historical “selection effect”**
In very broad terms, when a population has strong nutrition and health for many generations, average height can gradually shift upward.

**Why Dutch men are “more attractive”.**
This part is mostly perception, not biology- but still true.
**1. Height influences perceived attractiveness**
Across many cultures:
Taller men are often rated as more attractive or confident
So a taller population automatically gets a “boost” in perceived attractiveness
**2. Media amplification**
Dutch and Scandinavian men are overrepresented in:
fashion modeling
advertising
global social media aesthetics
That creates a “selection bias” where you mostly see the most conventionally attractive individuals.
**3. Fashion and presentation culture**
The Netherlands has a strong modern, minimalist fashion culture in urban areas (Amsterdam, Rotterdam), which reinforces a “clean aesthetic” image.
But- What can African people learn from the Dutch and incorporate into their culture to produce the same/similar results?

**Height is mostly about early-life conditions, not ethnicity or culture**
The biggest driver of average height differences globally is:
**childhood nutrition**
**prenatal health (mother’s nutrition and health)**
**childhood disease burden**
**access to healthcare**
That is not something that is easy to fix for poor African states. We also have not addressed Dutch lifestyle.
What practical steps do you think African people can take to meet the standards of the Dutch.

How come Dutch men are more beautiful and tall compared to everyone else? What can African nations learn from them?
