5 Things I wish someone had told us before we booked our wedding venue
My partner and I recently went through the whole venue-hunting process, and looking back, there are a few things we wish we'd known before paying the advance.
Always ask what's not included.
• Many venues quote a great price, but décor, generators, valet, housekeeping, or even basic lighting may be extra.
Understand the timing policy.
• Ask when vendors can enter for setup and how strict the venue is about closing time. Extra hours can get expensive.
• Don't judge a venue only by Instagram.
Visit at the same time of day your event will happen. Lighting, parking, and overall ambience can feel very different.
• Have a weather backup if it's outdoors.
A beautiful lawn is great until unexpected rain or extreme heat becomes a problem. Ask about indoor alternatives.
• Read the cancellation and refund policy carefully.
Life happens. Make sure you know exactly what happens if dates change.
What was the biggest surprise you found while booking your wedding venue?
I'd love to hear other people's experiences.
