Unpopular opinion: They ruined Hermione in the full-cast audio books.
I originally listened to the Stephen Fry version of the audiobooks and I feel he had a way better understanding of the tone and emotion behind all the scenes and characters. I often find myself cringing while listening to the full-cast version because it feels so overacted and dramatic with little added to the story.
I am especially turned off by older Hermione. She sounds shrieky and close to tears in every line. She is also often huffing and puffing after each line as well. It feels so unnatural because although Hermione was described as annoying in the earlier, she definitely doesn’t come off as this emotional later on. She is a strong, put-together witch who bravely leads Ron and Harry. Stephen Fry seems so do her more justice in terms of portraying a fiercely passionate but soothingly confident character.
