Foyet is my favorite villain ever

I watch a lot of crime shows, so I’ve seen tons of good villains/unsubs. I recently started Criminal Minds again because I never finished the entire show when I started it a few years ago. I just got to the conclusion of The Replicator and liked it, but nothing has compared to the Foyet storyline. He was terrifying! He ultimately does what he does for power and control to a degree we’ve never seen in an unsub before. He’s so obsessed, calculated, and truly patient. Spending 10 years planning his comeback and escape from prison is so insane and terrifying.

When I first watched his storyline, it was the first time an unsub really got to me and freaked me out. I rewatched all his episodes last night and the actor is phenomenal. He seems so average at first, but now that I’m watching it again, I can pick up on little mannerisms and how he says things that sort of reveal something is off with him. It makes me wonder what kind of people I pass on a regular basis or who in my life could be up to something terrible and I’m completely fooled by the act they put on.

The writers did an incredible job building the suspense over multiple episodes and showing how morally grey the job can be sometimes.

I still can’t decide if I think Hotch should have taken Foyet’s deal at the beginning. Haley might still be alive, but who knows if Foyet would have actually kept his end of the bargain this time.
