Job Offer Question [bc,ca]

I’ve completed two final interviews at two companies for HRBP role. Its about 1 week apart for the final interviews and should be hearing back from company A first (theoretically) and will hear back from company B at a later time. Company A hiring manager is on vacation and won’t be back until another week. (Its just a little over a week since the final interview from company A). I reached out to company A recruiter and she said that the hiring manager may be moving forward with an internal candidate and will keep me posted as soon as she hears back from the hiring manager. I’m leaning towards company A but should I just move on and potentially accept company B if they put out an offer before company A offers me a job?

Recruiter from company B said that my interviews were really good and they are highly considering me for the role and should hear back soon for reference stage.

Also, during the beginning stages of company A’s hiring process, the recruiter disclosed that they had someone on the offer stage and backed out and I happen to apply and saw my resume. Makes me wonder why the internal candidate was not part of the hiring process or considered for the role when the candidate backed out.

What would you do?
