29 - [M4F] - LA/North America - Will this shout into the void help me find my person? I hope so 😊

Hi all, good morning or afternoon to anyone who clicked on this! My name is Matt, and it's nice to (at least one-sidedly for now) meet you! I mean it genuinely, that even if I'm not the person you're looking for out there, I wish you the best of luck in finding them. As long as you're putting yourself out there and putting in the effort, you and your person will find each other someday 🙂

Now as to why I'm here, I'm hoping to find my person as well. I'll be honest, the past couple of years have been a bit of a dating drought for me, despite my best efforts otherwise. Dating apps have been helpful for meeting a couple of people, but not so much for finding my person or the long-lasting relationship I'm looking for. And not many opportunities to find my person through friendship and hobbies, so here I am. I have tried messaging a few people that, when I have occasionally browsed this subreddit, have sounded interesting, but nothing seemed to have lasted. My hope is that if I'm the one posting, and with the different environment, then the usual dating apps, maybe that will all change.

Now about me, here are the quick facts about me:

- I am 29 years old, work as an Aerospace engineer (so points if you like the nerdy types), and am based just outside of LA. If you are also LA or OC based, then great! If you're not, I'm open to trying long distance, though a fair warning I've never done long distance before. Eventually, if we aren't semi-close to each other, I wouldn't be against moving for the right person. I know I'm in an awkward location for some, but if nothing else I'm mobile!

- My vibe has been described as Golden retriever adjacent personality (friends have previous said its like golden daschund energy, like godlen retriever but a little more chill). High energy and I will find an excuse to become fascinated by anything, from a cool stick to some interesting art, or if I'm hiking seeing a cool rock to climb (admit it, cool rocks are meant to be climbed!).

- Looks wise I think I'm fairly attractive, but all beauty is in the eye of the beholder I think. I can attach a few photos here (some of which are better taken than others haha) for you to decide if I'm your type or not.

- I would definitely describe myself as an ambivert, though some would say I'm more of an extravert. I have a lot of hobbies that keep me busy and connected to people. Some of those hobbies include:

- Acting in local theater (I do a lot of musicals! 🎼)

- Volunteering with STEM outreach (I also used to volunteer with habitat for humanity, but LA Habitat never seems to have build days when I'm free 😅)

- Learning languages (je parle un sommes raisonable de français, Hablo un poco de español [mejor a la lectura, porque no me recuerdo much del vocabulario], un paar wortz Deutch, and reading basic japanese [just enough to be able to read basic pokemon stuff and put it into Google translate with a regular keyboard 😁])

- Reading (I average like 15-20 books a year, maybe 30 some years if I'm good. It's not the most impressive, but it's something. I try to get at least a little bit of everything in my reading diet)

- Going to the gym and running (I can at least reliably lift my own body weight, I used to be able to run a 23 minute 5k, but because of my own laziness it's more like a 28 minute 5k now haha)

- hiking and camping (I love the outdoors, especially near water and climable rocks!)

- DIY electronics (I like to build and make things on occasion)

- Video games (though I'm largely a nintendo boy, with most focus on Pokemon and Stardew Valley)

- A lot of smaller stuff here and there (for example teaching myself the guitar or learning to draw better, or my old collection of world cultural items and historical swords)

- I am very fascinated by people passions! I could listen to people for hours just talk about what fascinates them and the ins and outs of what makes the thing the like unique. I guess it just stems from the fact I like to learn and generally find people interesting.

- I always love to try new things, even if it means putting in the effort to do it first. I'm very much an explorer and love to find things that I haven't done before or the hidden parts of a place not many people know about.

Well that was a lot of text about me, thank you for reading this far! I'm sorry for rambling, but I think it's important and worth it that, if I have the space, to introduce myself to the best of my abilities in case my person is out there. If there's anything I didn't mention that you want to know, ask! I'm an open book and the point of this is to get to know each other, right?

Now what is it exactly that I'm looking for? Well like I said earlier, I'm hoping to find my person, build a long term relationship that helps me to find my person. The things that are absolutely non negotiable for me are:

1. is, generally speaking, a kind and nice person

2. isn't a smoker (The only smell of smoke I like comes from a campfire, and have never and will never smoke weed or tobacco)

3. doesn't have kids (no shame if you do have kids, it's just I believe if you enter a relationship where there's already kids, you should be at the point in life where you are also ready for kids. While I think, with the right person [if youre a hard no on kids this means that isnt a deal breaker for me], I would want kids someday, that day is not today)

4. Have some kind of hobby/passion of yours (even if work is your passion!)

Some preferences (because who knows who we end up clicking with, dont be discouraged from reaching out if you dont meet one of these) would be:

1. Age 25-33

2. In the LA/OC area (again, I'm not against trying long distance, but this means we could potentially meet face-to-face in the near-er future 🙂)

3. Also an ambivert/extrovert, I would love a person to explore with!

4. Takes care of themselves/is active

5. Has a bubbly personality

6. Is financially stable (I myself am debt free, even saving for a house hopefully)
