How to apologize to my friend that has BPD/is this a good apology?

Hi everyone!

I’m a little bit ashamed that I am not confident in my ability to apologize to my friend but I really want this to work out. So, I’ll take all the help I can get!

Recently, me and my friend got into some drama that was caused by outside influences. I want to apologize for my actions. In the moment, I was upset that the outside influences pressured me into saying things that I’m pretty sure triggered my friend. As she did not answer the phone for a long time (when she says she values fast responses to text), her social media repost contain posts about “wondering how people would react if I disappeared”. So I am worried. The drama was that my friend is very uncomfortable with meeting new people, and my other friend was trying to invite her other friend to hangout with us and everyone was upset. In the moment I was upset at the my friend’s friend for being so pushy and saying things like “just let me come along, this isn’t difficult, if you won’t do it give me your log in and I’ll log into your phone and do it for you”

It was wrong for me to take the other friend’s side when we all knew that my friend would be uncomfortable. It was wrong for me to not give my friend a warning that I was being pressured into including another person. It was wrong for me to not prioritize her comfort.

This whole situation is bigger than we have been through because I usually take her side to minimize the damage, but I will not dwell on the things hurt me because this is my apology to her.

Sometimes I wonder if these are relationships worth fighting for but we’ve been friends for many years and we’ve grown up together. It would be foolish to cut out the people I love over a situation caused by outside forces so please help me with my apology!

The potential apology:

Hi (name), a few nights ago I pressured you into including (name of friend friend) in our plans. I can see how that made you feel disrespected. It was my fault. I did not handle the situation well. I am sorry. I will not leave you, and you’re not alone in this. What would help you feel safer to move forward?
