Cute neighbour

Okay, so there’s this guy. I think he lives on my street or maybe one street over, and he’s literally sooo cute. We see each other pretty often whenever I’m out, and we always make really intense eye contact. We don’t actually know each other, but we definitely recognize each other’s faces. 

The thing is, next week is my last week in my city before I’m gone for about five weeks for summer. I kind of want to ask him for his Snap or Instagram (which one is better?).

How should I approach him? What should I say? Should I do it before I leave or wait until I get back? I’m worried that if I ask before the holidays and he gives me his Snap or Insta, we won’t actually be able to go on a date until I’m back, and I’m scared it’ll be awkward by then.

Also… what do I say or do if he rejects me?
