Fear of no control
I’m currently 37 weeks pregnant with my second baby and I’ve gained about 20 kg so far.
One of my biggest fears right now isn’t labor or the C-section itself, but what happens after birth.
During my first pregnancy, I gained around 30 kg. Right after delivery, I lost about 12 kg pretty quickly, but after that things became really difficult for me. I had an enormous appetite all the time, my skin broke out badly, I felt uncomfortable in my body, and losing weight seemed impossible. I actually ended up gaining some weight back.
What surprised me the most was the hunger. I was constantly hungry, and it felt almost impossible to control. Looking back, I wonder if it was hormonal, related to recovery, sleep deprivation, breastfeeding, or a combination of everything.
Now I’m in my second pregnancy, and even though I’ve gained less this time (20 kg instead of 30 kg), I have the exact same fears all over again.
Did anyone else experience extreme hunger postpartum? Were you able to manage it? Did it eventually go away on its own? What helped you most—focusing on nutrition, exercise, breastfeeding, hormones balancing out, or simply giving yourself time?
I’d really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences because I feel quite anxious about repeating the same pattern.
